simple music ensemble world

9 September 20:00
Ehrbar Saal Vienna
On September 9th residents and guests of Vienna will immerse in the fabulous atmosphere of animated films by the outstanding Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki at the Simple Music Ensemble: Miyazaki Dreams concert.

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animation director, screenwriter, producer, writer, winner of several Academy Awards. He has greatly influenced the world of animation, inspiring a whole generation of artists to work in this field and highlighting its limitless potential.

From an early age, Miyazaki was fond of animation and drawing manga (Japanese comics). His father, Katsuji Miyazaki, was working as a director of Miyazaki Airplane aircraft parts manufacturing company. It is not surprising that aviation not only became one of the director's main hobbies for life, but also can be traced as a leitmotif in many of his works. As a student, Miyazaki was interested in children's literature, read many books written for children by authors from all over the world. In 1963, after graduating from the Faculty of Economics and Politics of Gakushuin University, Miyazaki got a job as a phase artist (the process of creating intermediate phases of characters' actions between drawings, taking into account the nature of their movement) in one of the largest animation studios in Japan – Toei Animation. From this moment begins his animation career.

Miyazaki's first works are represented by the films "The White Snake Enchantress" by Okabe Kazuhiko and "The Snow Queen" by Lev Atamanov. Hayao deals with the themes of sincere feelings, humanism, family, pacifism, love of flying and flying machines. In Miyazaki's extraordinary animated worlds, the line between the real and the fantastic is almost blurred.

It is impossible not to note that Hayao Miyazaki's cartoon "Spirited Away" (2001) is the only non-English-language film that won an Oscar for the “Best Animated Feature Film". In total, 6 Japanese films have been nominated for the Academy Award in the entire history.

On September 9th residents and guests of Vienna will embark on an amazing journey together with their favorite anime heroes at the Simple Music Ensemble: Miyazaki Dreams concert at the Ehrbar Saal. The artists of the SME chamber music studio will feature works from animated films by the outstanding Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, who managed to conquer the hearts of adults and children all over the world. Among them: "The Walking Castle", "Nausicaa from the Valley of the Winds", "Spirited Away", "My neighbor Totoro", "Heavenly Castle of Laputa" and others.* Fabulous music in the author's arrangements of the SME studio will take listeners to a completely new level of perception, giving vivid impressions and leaving wonderful memories of the concert.
