Simple Music Ensemble will perform works by Italian neoclassical composer Ludovico Einaudi.
Ludovico Einaudi is undoubtedly one of the most prominent representatives of neoclassical music. However, his success and recognition did not come easily. From childhood, Einaudi was overshadowed by the achievements of members of his family. His mother played the piano, his maternal grandfather was a composer and conductor of Italian opera, and his father was a well-known book publisher. His paternal grandfather, Luigi Einaudi, was the first president of post-war Italy.
Einaudi sees himself as a conduit to the world of classical music for a wide audience. His album "Elements" (2015) was incredibly successful commercially - it is the only classical recording in the UK album chart in the last 20 years. Einaudi's soundtracks brought him widespread recognition. Thanks in large part to his life-affirming melodies, the French comedy-drama "The Intouchables" moved millions of people worldwide. The world-renowned Italian composer and pianist has authored over 20 albums and soundtracks for films including Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan," Xavier Dolan's "I Killed My Mother," and "Mommy."
